I invite you to reflect on the word “vision” with me.  Many times we start off a year with vision of what we want to accomplish.  Along with that, many of us set goals or make resolutions.

Today, let’s talk about vision at a larger level.  In its simplest form it means, “being able to see.”  All of us who can see in the natural should be very grateful.  But what about our spiritual sight?

We would be wise to realize that in any realm our vision is impacted by where we are.  Here in Utah we can be on the side of a mountain and have an amazing view.  But many times we fail to realize that just over the ridge above us there is a peak where we could get a 360 degree view that would make our current view pale in comparison.

It is the same way in our relationship with God.  We invite Him into our world and ask Him to show us what to do next or give us perspective on what is important.  However, we fail to realize that His invitation is to, “Come up here!” so that we can see from His vantage point.

In Ephesians 1 Paul prays that “the eyes of our understanding would be enlightened.“  In Ephesians 2 Paul goes on to say that we are seated with Jesus at the right hand of the Father.  Now that is a great place to see from!

The disciple John understood this in a very personal way.  In Revelation 4 an angel says to him, “Come up here and I will show you things which must take place.”

The invitation of the Holy Spirit to all of us is, “Come up here!”  We are privileged to sit with our Heavenly Father daily.  To enjoy His presence and pause and have Him point out to us what is going on heaven and what He desires to happen that day on the earth.

This week, pause, sit with Jesus at the right hand of the Father.  Enjoy His presence and while seated there, ask Him to show you anything He wants to point out to you.

See you again next week!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
