This week we are going to talk about “Rest”.  And to go along with that theme there is not a video this week.  For those who enjoy them every week – thank you for watching!  I will be back with you in video format next week.

Rest is key to a healthy relationship with God and others.  It is also key for us being whole within ourselves.

One of the main hindrances to rest is unbelief.  Hebrews 3:19 says the Israelites in the desert “did not enter into God’s rest because of unbelief.”  To address unbelief we must choose to focus on God and not our ourselves or our circumstances.

If we deal with unbelief and have childlike faith in God we are able to rest.  Do little children in healthy families worry about the bills getting paid?  Do they worry about work?  Do they worry about what other people think of them?  No!  They rest in the fact their parents love them and they provide for them.  This is the same posture our heavenly Father wants us to have with Him.

In this passage Hebrews 4:2 goes on to say the “gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”  And in verse 10 we read, “For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.”

Have you entered God’s rest?  Do you walk in it?  Or are you striving to please God and others?

Our heavenly Father loves you.  He is for you!  He believes in you.  Jesus finished the work that was necessary on the cross.  Receive His finished work and stop trying to add to it.

My prayer for you this week is that Jesus would “make you lie down in green pastures and lead you beside still waters.  That He would restore your soul.”  Psalm 23:2-3a

Rest in Him!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
