Today Steve and Bob take us deeper into faithfulness in our walk with Jesus.

Steve shares a story from when he was 18 and serving for a month at a Young Life Camp.  One night after being a part of preparing and cleaning up a chicken barbeque meal for 400 campers he was the last one to leave the kitchen.  As he went to leave he noticed a pot on the floor with baked beans that had burned.  At that moment Steve felt the Lord say, “What are you going to do now?”

We tend to look to see if others are watching.  Meanwhile our Father delights to show up in the secret place.  Our lives are hidden with Christ in God.  The affirmation of men is fleeting.  The affirmation we really long for is from Him.

God desires for us to be fruitful.  To do so we need to:

  • Embrace the identity and role of a servant.
  • Embrace the opportunity to be faithful.
  • Yield to the preparation God has for us.

Steve challenges us:  When you are in a place of serving look for Jesus.  Discover Jesus there.  Live in the tension of the fear of the Lord and joy. Tune your ears to His voice – to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”  May He be able to say that over all of us this side of heaven!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
