I want to thank Steve for sharing with us from the depths of his heart over the first half of this year. If you followed us on this journey you have just received the core of what Steve pours into missionary trainees.
Today Steve and I talk about courage. To be faithful day in and out takes courage. Cor is the Latin word for heart. In Spanish the word is corazon and the word for courage is coraje. Courage comes from the heart. To see courage grow we must see our heart grow!
In 1988 in a school in Guatemala I heard a message from Oren Paris about God using problems and difficulties to enlarge our hearts. Sometimes on our journey we can become discouraged and feel our heart is too small. First of all we need to recognize it and declare to God, “My heart is too small, change me.” This is necessary to keep us from hardening our hearts and going into denial or self protection mode. Then we must step out in faith and take action, for “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matt 6:21
One of the things God wants to enlarge our hearts for and give us courage for is the next generation. Intentionally slow down and ask the question, “Does what I am doing have a long term multi-generational impact?”
Malachi 4:6 says, “He will turn the hearts of the fathers (parents) to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers (parents); or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.”
Less than two weeks ago the supreme court ruled on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and overturned Roe v Wade. This is very important. We are grateful for it and celebrate it!
This week I encourage you to take action by doing 2 things:
- Ask God for a courageous heart.
- Champion life in your country and state. If you are in KS this means a YES vote in the August 2, 2022 election on the Value Them Both Amendment. For more information please go to www.valuethemboth.com
Meanwhile over the next several weeks we have a special treat. My oldest son Seth will be with us as we talk about one of his friends who was martyred for obeying Jesus. Together we will look at the question, “What kind of person does that?”
We hope to see you next week.
