Steve and Bob continue to explore the question, “What does it look like to turn our hearts to our children?” We have seen how it is key to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to turn our hearts to Jesus and to turn our hearts to our fathers.  This week we explore the importance of turning our hearts to our wives or spouses.

Bob asks the question, “Should we be following our hearts or leading our hearts?  Steve suggests that the best answer is both/and, not either/or.  God transforms our hearts and puts things in our hearts.  In those settings we should “follow our hearts.”  At the same time, we also need to direct our hearts.  How are both true?

In the new covenant we have a new heart of flesh that is passionate about Jesus.  We need to focus on and nurture that.   But until Jesus comes aback again our old heart still wants to rear its ugly head and deceive and mislead us.  We must learn to discern between the two!

The power of our words to direct our hearts is incredible.  What we say about our spouse and to our spouse is powerful.  This has a huge impact on our hearts being turned towards our spouses and their hearts being turned and drawn towards us. Loving, affirming words create a heart bond.

This week tell your spouse how much you love them and what you appreciate about them.  Then brag on them to someone else as well.

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
