Today we continue our conversation about spiritual warfare and parenting.
Steve says, “We don’t need to be afraid of spiritual warfare. . .as far as making a mistake. . .Just do it! If anything is worth doing, it is worth doing poorly. . . and you will learn in the process. In addition, connect with others. Ask them to teach you how to engage in spiritual warfare.”
Spiritual warfare not only involves praying in the midst of day to day circumstances but also praying things into existence. Steve and Janice would tend to pray a very similar prayer every night when they were putting their children to bed. It had a spiritual warfare/destiny element to it. They were planting a seed by proclaiming who their children were and God’s purposes and calling over their lives.
Our focus is not the enemy. It is our King and our Captain of the hosts. Enjoy Him, our identity in Him and the destiny He has for us. Let’s shift the focus from reacting to the enemy’s attacks to starting from a positive place as the family of God. Let’s push back the darkness and create a greater space for our families.
There are times we need to call other people to stand with us in the battle. Watch the video to hear a key story from when Bob and Kristy and their boys lived in Mexico. Hear how God responded when they sent out a call for intercessors to help them press through major resistance to breakthrough.
Steve also shares a story about when he had a sense in his heart that the enemy was going to go after his son’s destiny. So Steve began to pray about something that hadn’t happened yet but was yet to come.
Spiritual warfare is real. Let’s be enamored with Jesus. This week, ask God, “How do I partner with what you are doing in my children? What do you want to say about my children or spiritual children?” Take what God says and pray and speak it out. Call forth the destiny God has for them!
