My good friend Todd Davis joins me this week as we continue the conversation I started with Steve Sizemore about how we need friends.  Todd faithfully filmed episodes 1-45 and today he joins us in front of the camera.  Proverbs 18:24 reminds us to show ourselves friendly, to take initiative in building relationships.

Todd first shares about how his relationship with Jesus started.  He was invited to be a part of a Christian band when he was in high school.  After a rehearsal a few weeks in Todd was invited to stick around for Bible study and prayer.  The leader asked if there was anyone who wanted to know Jesus.  Todd realized he didn’t have a relationship with Jesus and he decided to give his life to Him.  As Todd reflects, he is so grateful for his friends being friendly and inviting Him into a relationship with Jesus.

Todd and I initially met at LifeMission Church in September 2006.  After Saturday night services Todd and his wife Darlene would invite people over to enjoy time around the fire.  I was a recipient of an invitation on more than one occasion and their welcoming spirit ignited a relationship that has grown in leaps and bounds over the last 16 years.

Todd and Darlene simply made themselves available and extended a sincere, heartfelt invitation.  They would invite people they knew well and others they just met.  They made people like me feel welcome and created opportunities for us to connect with other people.

God created us for relationship with Himself and others.  Aren’t you glad He is intentional about making a welcoming place for you and me?

Who does God want you to welcome or create space for this week?

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
