This week Todd continues the conversation with me about the value of relationships.  We see the power and priority of relationships in scripture.

Jonathan and David were willing to lay down their lives for each other.  Even Jesus needed others.  He had John as a close friend, as well as James, Peter and the twelve.  Jesus also sent the disciples out two by two.

Together Todd and I talk about the relational side of missions’ trips.  Todd shares how his first missions’ trip was with a worship team to the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.  From this trip Todd realized that all he had to do was be himself, be friendly and share with others what Jesus has done in his life.

Todd also challenges us that we have a mission field just outside our front door.  The key is to be relational and talk about Jesus.  They go hand in hand.

The Bible says our love for one another will cause others to know we are followers of Jesus.  On missions’ trips we connect with other team members just by the very nature of traveling together.  We have great opportunities to serve and prefer our fellow team members as well as the lost.

One of the things we do before our trips is have all the team members share their Jesus story with the group.  We first share about Jesus with those who know Him.  It opens hearts and creates a common bond for the team.  It also imparts faith and courage to each other and ourselves.

This week talk to someone who knows Jesus about Jesus.  Then step out and do the same with someone who doesn’t know Him!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
