Today we continue our conversation about key people in the Christmas story with my good friend Christian Shelton.

We are in episode four of our series on the Christmas story.  We have read of angels appearing to Zacharias, to Mary, and then to Joseph in a dream.  This week we find yet another angel standing before some shepherds outside of Bethlehem.  Do you see a theme here?

This angel shares the Good News with the shepherds that the Savior has been born.  He goes on to say, “You will find the Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths lying in a manger.”  To their thinking it was preposterous and all too familiar at the same time.  The shepherds knew there was a location nearby where spotless lambs were protected and prepared this way to be sacrificed in the temple.  Was this the location where the actual Christ child was born and then wrapped up as well?

And to emphasize to the shepherds the glorious nature of this child’s birth, “Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God!”

Watch and listen in on an intriguing and mind blowing conversation about the shepherds encountering the Lamb of God!

Read Luke 2:8-20 and ask the Holy Spirit for further insights in this story.

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
