Today we continue our series by diving into Psalms 42 and 43.  In both of these Psalms David speaks to his soul.  He asks his soul this question “Why so downcast, O my soul?”  He essentially says, “Why are you so bummed out?  Then he commands his soul, “Hope in God.”

We are a three part being, spirit, soul, and body.  Once we surrender our lives to Jesus our spirit man is born again.  Therefore we must choose to align with our spirit which is a new creature in Christ.  We must speak from our spirit to our souls and our bodies to bring them into alignment with God’s ways as well.

Do you ever wake up in a funk with a bad attitude?  I have.  That is when I have a choice to make.  That is where I get to choose what part of me will take control of my mouth.  Will I speak from my spirit?  Will I use my mouth to command my soul to bless the Lord?  Will I begin to bring a sacrifice of praise to God?

In these two Psalms we see this pattern repeated 3X.  Each time David commands his soul to hope in God.  Each time he declares that he shall praise God.

This week join me as we choose to rise up in our spirit man, our spirit woman.  Let’s live from our spirits and command our souls to bless the Lord!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
