*This week’s blog is only in a written format.*
In Psalm 119 we have an example of doing everything we can to make God’s Word memorable and accessible. In this chapter we are challenged to “Hide God’s word in our heart.” No matter what season of life we are in, this is important!
In the original Hebrew language Psalm 119 is an acrostic poem. That means each stanza begins with each of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet in order. There are 22 stanzas, each made up of 8 verses each. The writer desired to give His people a love for God’s Word and wanted to empower them to memorize it.
When was the last time we intentionally memorized God’s Word to hide it in our hearts? What tools do we use to make it easier to do so?
My challenge to each of us this week is to create our own acrostic in English or whatever your first language is using Bible verses. To make it attainable choose five verses that start with the letters A to E. You may even want to choose verses that have a theme to them. For example:
Intimacy with God
As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs after You! Psalm 42:1
Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Jeremiah 1:5
Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of you heart. Psalm 37:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Psalm 100:4
What five verses will you choose? I would love to hear from you.
Have fun!!
