Thank you for joining me in the home stretch of our look at the book of Isaiah and how different portions have impacted me personally.  This week we are taking a look at Isaiah 53-55.

We all need to ponder Isaiah 53.  I encourage you to read the whole chapter.  It’s only 14 verses.

Here Jesus is revealed as the suffering Servant.  It prophetically speaks of Jesus being “wounded for our transgressions” and being “bruised for our iniquities.”  Look at this from both Jesus’ perspective and the Father’s perspective.  They both stayed the course.  Jesus willingly surrendered His own life and the Father willingly gave His own Son for us.  Jesus took our place.  He was beaten, bruised, and broken for us.  He became sin that we might become the righteousness of God.

Because of what Jesus has done we get to embrace the command and the blessing of God which follows in Isaiah 54.  Verse 2 says, “Enlarge the place of your tent.”  Expand out and believe for God’s blessing.  God says, “Children are a blessing from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.”  Psalm 127:3  We need to align with the truth of God’s word that children are a gift and a blessing and God has commanded us to be fruitful and multiply, both physically and spiritually.  God delights in physical and spiritual sons and daughters!

Ch. 54 goes on to say in verses 9 and 10 that God has sworn that He will not be angry with us, nor rebuke us.  Isn’t that amazing!  God further declares His kindness shall not depart from us and His covenant of peace shall not be removed.  What great news!  We need to celebrate that.

Verse 13 then adds, “All your children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be their peace and undisturbed composure.”  My mother in law used to pray this over all of her children and her descendants and it is a prayer I have adopted as well.  Embrace this prophetic word with me and pray it over your physical and/or spiritual sons and daughters!

Then in Chapter 55 we receive an invitation.  It’s an invitation not just unto salvation but an invitation we receive every day of our lives.  It is, “Come!”.  The Holy Spirit says, “Ho!  Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come buy and eat.  Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.”  How can we “buy” something without money?  This ties back to Chapter 53.  Jesus already paid the price by laying down His life.  We simply have to show up and ask.

Ch. 55:6 challenges us to “Seek the Lord while He may be found.  Call upon Him while He is near.”  This week press in and enjoy God’s presence.  Take full advantage of what Jesus has paid for!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
