When we know God’s love and character we want to connect with Him.  We get hungry and thirsty.  We long for His presence.  We long to hear His voice. We long to feel His touch.  And the more we experience Him the more we want to be with Him.

Jesus came to reveal the heart of the Father.  Luke 19:10 says, “Jesus came to seek and save that which is lost”.  Therefore, we can deduce that the Father’s heart is for lost people!  As we interact with God we will grow in longing for the things He longs for and one of those things is to see lost people restored to Him.

In Luke 19 we find Jesus passing through Jericho.  There He encounters the tax collector, Zacchaeus, a very despised Jewish man who is considered a terrible sinner.  Jesus chooses to go to the house of Zacchaeus and as Jesus hangs out with him Zacchaeus repents of stealing.  In response, Jesus says, “Salvation has come to this house today, for he too is a son of Abraham.”  This is where it goes on to say, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and save that which is lost.”

Watch the video to hear the story behind the story. . . who else did Jesus show mercy to in Jericho?  And who was willing to sacrifice two of his sons to be able to rebuild Jericho?

God wants us to have His heart for the lost.  He wants us to hang out with the lost, to give them our time, have meals with them, to sit down with them and show them how valuable they are to God and to us.

This week ask God for His heart for the lost.  And then reach out!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
