We continue our conversation about engaging in spiritual warfare on behalf of  our children and the next generation.

One of the most powerful expressions of spiritual warfare is obedience.  Every time we obey it is an act of spiritual warfare.

We need to be confident when it comes to our authority as parents.  It is a God given empowerment.  But it only has value if we exercise it.  Authority that is not exercised is almost worthless.

Steve shares, “Sometimes it doesn’t hurt to rehearse.  This is my son or my daughter.  They were given to me by God and I’ve dedicated them back to God.  I’m now the steward of this child. . .That’s what you have to do in a court room. . .You have to identify yourself. . .the spiritual realm is very much a legal realm.”

We need to remember we have a double layered authority.  We get to exercise authority as parents and as believers we get to exercise authority as the sons of the King.

To intercede means to stand between two things:

  • We stand between our children and heaven. Here we ask our Father to reveal His presence and power in their lives.  Go boldly into the heavenly courtroom because of what Jesus has done.
  • We also stand between our children and the forces of darkness. We declare, “You have to come through Jesus to get to them and I’m His representative.”

This week submit to God.   Resist the devil.  Take a stand on behalf of your children and those you disciple.  Exercise your authority!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
