I want to invite you into the journey of putting our roots deeper in Jesus.  We have been talking for a few weeks about our relationship with Him in our series Talking with God.  Today we look at the story of Moses.

Moses goes through a lot of trauma growing up.  He is very hesitant with God.  Many of us are like Moses.  We say, “But God, I don’t think I can do that.”  We find in Exodus 3 and 4 Moses being raw about his struggles and emotions when God manifests His Presence through a burning bush and He and Moses have a long conversation.

Moses doesn’t respond with a lot of faith initially.  Three times in this passage Moses’s response is “But….”  We find this in Exodus 3:11; 4:1, and 4:13.  God is patient and works with Moses and the things Moses says are his limitations.  After Moses resists three times God gets angry with him.  But God doesn’t give up on Moses.  God is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in love.

God works miracle after miracle through Moses.  But more importantly let’s jump forward to Exodus 33:9 which appears to be less than a year later .  Moses has gone from being resistant to God to great intimacy with Him.  There is hope for you and me!

The manifest presence of God would appear as a pillar of cloud above the tabernacle when Moses entered it.  Meanwhile inside the tabernacle Moses would talk with God.  Verse 11 goes on to say, “So the Lord spoke with Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.”  That is possible for you and me today!  We get to be friends of God and we get to speak with Him, enjoy our relationship with Him and press in to know Him at an intimate level.

This week, tell God, “I want to know you like that!”  I believe you will encounter Him in a more intimate way!

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
