Today Bob and Steve begin to address the question, “What keeps us from freely loving God and others?”  They then give us an opportunity to consider the following questions.

  • Do we truly receive and embrace God’s love for us?
  • Do we have a clear conscience before God and men?
  • Do we need healing from past wounds that would hold us back from taking the risk of loving others?

We need to deal with unconfessed sin.  We are not talking about trying to pay for our sin.  God empowers us to deal with it because with Him there is no shame.  He never asks us to uncover (confess in the proper environment) what He hasn’t already covered with the blood of Jesus.  Are you confident today that He not only loves you but He is not going to shame you?

Loving others is risky.  There will be pain in love at times.  Often with pain and disappointment we have to watch out or accusations of God can sneak in.  We need to rejoice in what God has saved us from and not blame Him for the disappointments in this life.

Bob Swank

About 15 years ago our heavenly Father began encouraging me in my role as His son and out of that in my role as a father, both biologically and spiritually. Through multiple encounters on my journey God has revealed His heart as my Father and affirmed my sonship in Him. Out of this has come His call to fully embrace who He has created me to be as a father and to share that with others.
